Birds make round nests - and here is a man made one! Handmade in smooth clay, its spherical shape offers protection from nature's intruders. Designed for Blue Tits, Coal Tits, Marsh Tits and Great Tits. A beautiful design, it will also look fantasic in any garden and a perfect present for any birdlover. This is a brand new product designed and hand made in Cornwall. (We like Cornwall!) Full instructions on siting and hanging included. Size: 7" (17cm) in diameter. The birdball comes with a 90cm length of hanging wire and a strong double box for easy posting.
Birds that visit your garden are territorial, so to help them use the birdball position it away from feeders, other nesting areas and out of reach of inquisitive little fingers and paws. Find a sheltered spot out of direct sunlight and prevailing winds where the birdball can hang unhindered at least 1.5m (5ft) from the ground. Birds can take months or even years to use a new nesting site but often return annually when they find one they like. You may remove old nesting materials from the birdball between October and November, and rinse the inside thoroughly with hot water. Never use bleach, detergent or any other harsh cleaning products. The birdball is made from frost resistant natural materials and may weather with time.
